The Jacob kids are inviting the family and friends that our mom and dad - Diane & André - hold dear to celebrate their golden anniversary on Saturday, August 23rd at The Greek Tycoon (Whitby, ON).
Our parents love nothing more than to spend time around the dinner time table, breaking bread and sharing stories.
Their wedding
In 1975, André Jacob and Diane Arsenault were married at St. Louis-de-France Catholic Church (North York, ON) on a beautiful sunny day surrounded by their friends and family.
Although the start of their life together, not the start of their lives.
Mom's story
Born in Tracadie-Sheila, NB, living on a homestead that her father had built, she then moved with her four siblings to Scarborough, ON.
In school, she was a straight-A student, loved to teach and had a penchant for painting.
Dad's Story
Born in Barrie, ON, hopping between Ontario and Quebec with his mum and brother, he finally landed in Toronto's Junction neighbourhood.
School was tough - changing schools and provinces so often - but he found an affinity in architecture and history.
How they Met
In Scarborough, mum and dad finally met thanks to an fortuitous introduction of my mum to my dad by her brother, Gerard, ahead of a dance.
The rest - they say - is history.
